Public Relations Intern

Squared Communications, a fast-paced boutique public relations and political consulting firm based in Washington, D.C., with operations in Boston, Seattle, San Francisco Bay Area, New York, London, and Brussels is looking for a self-motivated and detail-oriented Public Relations Intern interested in learning

about all aspects of the public relations field. Ideally, this candidate would be able to start immediately, commit to a full-time schedule, and be based in the Washington, D.C. area. 

The candidate must have excellent communication skills, demonstrate creativity, and understand the importance of attending to even the smallest of details. 

The primary goal of the internship is to assist with specific projects and gain experience with public relations day-to-day activities and writing, media relations, and client management.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor all forms of media for daily news clippings

  • Media list development

  • Draft social media content for various clients 

  • Contribute to daily, time-sensitive media coverage reports for clients

  • Perform general and client-related research 

  • Assist with developing and implementing social media campaigns

  • Attend internal team meetings and client meetings

  • Assist with drafting press releases, blog posts, pitches and other communications with the media and public

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Must be organized, able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to do self-starter research and get smart on a topic quickly 

  • Strong work ethic, self-motivated, and goal-oriented

  • Able to thrive in both an on-site and off-site workplace

  • Previous experience in media relations is highly preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree or currently enrolled in university, preferably in communications, journalism, English, political science, or public relations-related focus 


COMPENSATION: $20 per hour
